Folahan Ayoola, MD, FASMBS, FACS, attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, and received his medical degree in 2006. Then, he served his general surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia (2006-2011), where he also completed his bariatric and minimally invasive surgery fellowship. During his residency, Dr. Ayoola received the I.A. Bigger Award – the highest honor bestowed to surgical residents and was named Chief Resident. He obtained the board certification in general surgery from the American Board of Surgery. In addition, Dr. Ayoola maintains membership of the Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery. Moreover, he attained fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and fellowship of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). Prior to medical school, Dr. Ayoola completed his undergraduate education at the University of Houston in 2001.
